And the winner is…

Drum roll, please…UP-BEAT is proud to announce results of the City-BEAT design competition!  We had a TIE for first place from Jeff Slater and Lu Zhou, both students in the Master of Landscape Architecture program at Texas A&M.  Yay Jeff and Lu!  Jeff and Lu have graciously agreed to combine their designs into one for the City-BEAT walking circuit; we can’t wait to see the final product this winter!  Mary Itz came in as the runner-up.  Congratulations, Mary!  Competition was tight and the judges really had a tough time making their final selections.  Congratulations are also in order for our honorable mentions: Amy Thompson, Josey & Kathryn Meyer, and Qian Wan.

Congratulations to all of our artists!  The contest had great turnout for community voting and the judges really enjoyed being able to take part.  Thanks to everyone who came out to vote or shared the news with family and friends; UP-BEAT would not be the success it is without your support.  Keep on the lookout for more information about the official City-BEAT launch and unveiling of our news signs in early 2011.  Until then, feel free to download a map and make use of the paths while you enjoy historic Downtown Bryan. Happy walking!
