Umbrella Partnerships-BE Active in our Town (UP-BEAT) will focus on policy and environmental changes that lead to maintaining a healthier weight and more active lifestyles.

Project activities will include creating signage for a walking trail through Downtown Bryan and training local youth to conduct community assessments.  Information from those assessments will be used to determine future obesity prevention activities and provide policy and environmental information to decision-making boards.

Funding for UP-BEAT is provided through a competitive grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

UP-BEAT is pleased to announce the 2011 mini grant program.  Limited funding is available for qualified projects targeting policy and environmental change approaches to increasing physical activity. Applications are due April 1, 2011.   Read the RFA here.
